Tigi Ness has been a prolific poet, singer, performer and political activist. From the early days of first playing at school on a ukelele to being the Minister of Culture in the Polynesian Panthers, protesting against the Springbok tour to now playing reggae in a band whose message helps spread good vibes and celebrates good times whilst still carrying a proactive message of change for the greater good.
Unity Pacific celebrates the cultural heritage of all its members; Niuean, Cook Islands, European, Maori and Samoan. Unity Pacific are not to be missed live - they combine stripped back dread roots with wonderful improvisation and a venue full of good vibes every time they play.
Their second and latest album “Into the Dread” celebrates the faith and unity of the band. It was recorded over four nights of full band live takes at York Street studios. The stand out features of the album are the soulful vibe and the dread improvisation.
Unity Pacific play Flow on October 4th.
