Based in Auckland with links to Waiuku, The Wicks started out with Modest Mouse and Wolf Parade inspired tunes but have since evolved beyond their modest, nameless, beginnings; they initially didn’t have a name when they first performed, but assumed The Wicks moniker and now fear the possibility of an American Christian folk duo situated in the bible belt suing them for using the name.

They’re currently touring their new three track EP titled “The Metropolis According To Morris” and have managed to get their single titled “Life in the Swimming Holes” ranked at number one in the 95bFM Top 10 for four weeks.

The Wicks are bringing their frenetic, spontaneous and lively show to Hamilton on Saturday July 5 at 8:30pm, along with Auckland’s Artisan Guns and Teacups. Entry is only $10.
