Started in a modest dorm room in Chicago, The Enright House’s Mark Roberts is a classically trained guitarist now putting his skills into producing ethereal electronic post-pop akin to Sigur Ros and The Knife cross with Mogwai.

Sonically, the Enright House is constructed from various materials: a passion for the derelict and broken, a deep respect for classical music, a somewhat warped pop sensibility, and as much hope and idealism as Mark can muster on his better days.

Within the last 12 months The Enright House released the debut album “A Maze and Amazement”, an acoustic EP, as well as a split 7”, completed three tours of New Zealand, played some sweet festivals like Camp A Low Hum and Southern Amp, and finished shooting three music videos.

Having resolved to dedicate his life full-time to The Enright House, Mark is putting on the finishing touches to A Maze and Amazement’s follow-up record, after which he will be moving back to Chicago in January 2009, and then tirelessly tour North America and Europe until he collapses or uses up his remaining college trust fund.

For the moment, Mark is taking a smaller version of The Enright House and touring New Zealand with electronically inclined down-tempoist brother-in-arms i.ryoko. Catch both acts at La Commune on Friday 29 August at around 8pm.
