Last week we introduced our new Mammoth Top 8 chart online which is a user-voted chart of your favourite songs. The votes are collected at mammothguide.co.nz/top8 and you can listen to the radio show on Contact 88.1FM every week on Mondays at 8PM with Shane at the reins. Feel free to nominate any song you want! If you’re in a local band or solo artist, we heartily encourage you to nominate your own music!

We also have a What’s On podcast available on our site and it’s MC’d by Matt. A podcast is similar to a radio show, except this one is recorded in a bedroom and without the tomfoolery of radio advertising (nor luxury of nice equipment!). You also won’t have to tune in at a specific time to listen; you can download the file and listen whenever you like. It covers music by artists who are going to be playing Hamilton within the next two weeks. If you want an easy way to listen to some new and interesting tunes, this is it!

Hamilton’s got some great events coming up soon: the fourth annual Circle Jerk is a celebration of Hamilton music in response to the NZ Music Month bypassing Hamilton music; Soundz like Hamilton is an event being put on by the Hamilton Public Library and info is available on their website; and the Axces Bar Battle of the Bands competition final will be happening on the 31st May. It certainly is a fortnight of quality Hamilton music stylin’!
