So far the Ignition Fringe Festival has been humming along quite nicely. We’ve attended a few of the shows and the impression we get is that the event has been enjoyed rather well by the general public and by the people putting on the events. It’s been an excellent way to get exposed to local performers and their shows, not to mention great to experience some productions that we wouldn’t have necessarily gone to otherwise. Dance, theatre, film, comedy, music, photography, painting and more, it’s all easily accessible to view and Hamilton continues to confidently flex its cultural biceps.
We’ve heard a message through the grapevine regarding an initiative to start up a fee-free music (and possibly other stuff) licensed venue in Hamilton. It involves finding 250 willing people to contribute $100 towards the first year of rent and expenses to go towards hiring good bar staff, having a free PA rental and much more. There will be other incentives coupled in with the membership deal so if you’re someone who wants to help Hamilton become a much more livelier place and more supportive of its musicians and live original music, send an email to rpshirlow(a)hotmail.com.
We hope you go out and enjoy some cool events happening within the ‘Tron this coming fortnight. There’s no shortage of events on!
